This Floral Dress will Transition Seamlessly into Fall

If you haven’t noticed lately, I’ve really been working on stepping up my work wardrobe. I probably talk about it every week. The biggest thing I wanted to add to my closet was work-appropriate dresses. I like them because, let’s be honest, sometimes it’s just too hot to wear anything besides a dress.

There were a few days this summer where I put on jeans or slacks for the day and I simply couldn’t take the heat, if you will. So, I started my hunt for work dresses.

I had a few dresses already that I could manage to make approprite for work. I have a knee length Everlane dress that I wear far too often, a few knee length shirt dresses in a nice material, and a few dresses I can pair with a jacket to make them look a bit nicer. However, I don’t think any of them were necessarily meant for work.

I picked up a few dresses from thredUP, and I highly recommend them if you want to pick up some new things while you’re on a budget. I talk about them all the time and you can see some of my best secondhand finds here!

However, my new dress from Ann Taylor might be my favorite. It’s perfect for late summer and the dark green color is perfect to transition into fall. I paired it with a pair of suede Coach heels (that I actually found at a thrift store).

The length is perfect for the office and can definitely be flattering on a lot of different body types. The wrap part is a little tighter on me, but there is a small button to keep everything wrapped up.

I don’t usually talk much about a piece that I just purchased (it doesn’t make for as interesting of a read), but this dress was too pretty not to share. And if you haven’t seen the blooper photos from this shoot yet – either go back in my Twitter archives or patiently wait until my blooper post rolls out at year end for a major laugh. I’m sure you’ll get a kick out of it.

Hi - my name is Kirsten! I am currently based in Chicago after a long cross-country move from Arizona. What will you find here? I love sharing all things sustainability and slow fashion, any of my day-to-day shenanigans, the latest new hobbies I picked up, and whatever concert or music festival I can find. Welcome and thanks for popping in to my little corner of the world wide web!
