Topgolf in Tucson

Since I golfed in high school, when I moved to Arizona, everyone has asked me if I’d been to Topgolf. I always said ‘no’ because we didn’t have one in Tucson. So when I found out that Topgolf was opening up in the area, you bet I was stoked.

If I could describe Topgolf, I would say it’s a bit like bowling; anyone can go and have fun and drink with friends. However, it’s way more fun than bowling.

Make your reservation here!

For starters, the food and drinks here are bomb. I mean, just take a look at these photos; way better than the traditional bowling food and beer you might be envisioning. That’s because Topgolf, especially here in Tucson, has a complete, full-service kitchen and bar. The menus aren’t even the same from place to place, so the chefs can give their dishes some local flair!

The last time I went to Topgolf was with Natalie from Happily Pink, and we got to go together twice! The first time, we attended for the media preview and this last time, we were welcomed by the marketing team to help promote the new location!

So let me just address a few things right off the bat:

Do I need to know how to golf to go?

Absolutely not. It’s fun regardless of what your swing looks like. Even though I’m decent at golf, I still miss targets while my less-than-golfer friends score more points than me. Because of how the game is set up, you only need to make contact with the ball to play. But don’t worry – if you have a swing and a miss, the score doesn’t count it like the real game of golf does!

It seems expensive! How do you suggest I go?

Get together a few couples or a large group of friends and make a party out of it! The nighttime rates are more expensive than the daytime and weekends are more expensive than weekdays. Find a weeknight to go or go midday on the weekend to save a bit on the rates and go with a large group to split it between more people!

Do I have to eat there?

You don’t have to. They have a lot of shareable, smaller platters that work well for groups. The food is pretty good though – I recommend it!

What’s your favorite drink?

Definitely the Topgolf tea. There are a lot of tasty drinks on the menu (I’ll share a few more later in this post), but you can’t go wrong with the Topgolf tea – it’s their signature!

Jumbo Pretzel Board

We started off the evening with a pretzel board. It’s a jumbo pretzel, served with mustard and queso, with a variety of cheeses, meats, and fruits on the inside. We worked out way through the outside of the pretzel pretty quickly and had to dig a bit to get to the inside! I always love a cheese platter, so this is definitely an easy appetizer to get that everyone will enjoy.

Drinks

I’ve now tried several drinks at Topgolf. I’ve had their Topgolf tea, Spring Sangria, and Pineapple Mint Margarita. The Sangria and the Margarita were both pretty sweet, for those of you who like sweet drinks. The Tea remins my favorite, but they have so much to try on their cocktail menu. They also have a great collection of local beer.

Spring Meatball Platter

These meatballs are absolutely delicious. They’re chicken & lamb blended meatballs served on a bed of arugula, shredded carrots, pickled onions, and a honey balsamic vinaigrette with a side tzatziki sauce. At first, we all tried the meatballs alone, but they taste 100% better when you get a little bit of everything!

These meatballs were actually the winning dish from a chef competition! Eight chefs went head-to-head, but ultimately one won over the celebrity chef judge with this Spring Meatball Platter. It definitely won’t disappoint!

Bao Bun Tacos

These were definitely unique with a bit of Asian and Hispanic flair. Their little tacos, served in bao buns, with marinated brisket, pickled cucumber, carrot, onion, sliced jalapeño, sesame seeds, and sriracha aioli. They definitely had a little kick to them!

Mushi

Ahh… Mexican sushi, Mushi for short. It pretty much just tastes like a burrito, sliced into sushi-sized pieces, but still delicious. It has cilantro sticky rice, drunken beans, spiced chicken, and cheddar cheese all wrapped in a jalapeño tortilla and served with sour cream, avocado, and sriracha hot sauce.

Signature Nachos

Can you ever go wrong with nachos? These nachos were loaded, just the way I like them, with toppings to almost outweigh the tortilla chips. They had drunken beans, a three-cheese blend, chimichurri drizzle, and fresh jalapeño. We also added steak and bacon as toppings!

Dessert

Last but not least, we couldn’t leave without dessert. We got an ice cream sundae, injectable donut holes, and silver dollar s’mores. I can’t even believe we made it to dessert after all these dishes! The sundae has vanilla bean ice cream, rich chocolate sauce, and crushed candied pecans, which I loved and the s’mores are just marshmellow filled cookie sandwiches. Ours were gooey and warm, just the way we liked them!

The real signature here is the injectable donut holes. The churro-flavored donuts can be served with your choice of flavor, bavarian cream, chocolate, or raspberry, and you use these little syringes to inject your donut with the flavor of your choice! It was hard for me to decide on a favorite!
