Seeing Spots: Réalisation Par Amelia Dress Review

Thank you to Holly Kapp Photography for these photos!

Once I get hooked on something, I really get hooked. So it goes with my obsession with the Realisation Par brand and midi-length dresses. I got my hands on this beauty (as well as the Cher Top) during the spring sale and the multi-colored polka dot print is just perfect for spring and summer. I mean, I can already see myself throwing on a denim jacket and block heels for a night out or a cardigan and sandals for Easter service.

As I mentioned in my Teale dress review, I always struggle with sizing in these trendy brands. How often do you see a model who’s over a size 2 featured on the brand’s website or social media? Not often.

The Amelia:

The Amelia dress is simple. It feels like one of those dresses you can just throw on for any occasion and you’ll look cute and put together. It looks more casual paired with a denim jacket and pointed toe boots or can be dressed up with heeled sandals. Bonus: the turquoise polka dots perfectly matched a pair of my Kendra Scott earrings to create the cutest summer look!

The colorful polka dots are really what drew me in, even though I also love the other two floral prints. This dress is the perfect mix of sexy and cute.

MY MEASUREMENTS:

In the name of transparency, this is my size.

In general, I am a US size 6. For the most part, this always holds true. When it comes to dresses, I occasionally size up to an 8 to accommodate my size 34DD chest.

I wear a size 28 in most denim brands including Lucky Brand, Paige, and Levi’s.. In jeans without as much stretch (100% cotton), I generally size up to a 29.

In inches, my measurements are 40-29-39.

That’s as in-depth as I think I can go.

DRESS SIZING:

In this dress, I ordered a size large, which is the same size I went with for the Teale. I’m glad I sized up instead of going with the medium. I read that a few dresses from Realisation run large, which I did not find to be the case with either of my dresses. If I had a smaller chest, I probably could have sized down, but this dress was very tight across my bust.

My ultimate conclusion is to stick with your usual size unless you have a larger chest; if so, you should definitely size up.

THE ORDERING PROCESS:

The ordering process was really simple, just like any other online shop.

What I will say is the items online do sell out. If you see something you like in your size, it could sell out rather quickly (especially during a sale!) and restocks take a while. Another good thing to know is that refunds are not allowed during one of their sales; you can only exchange for a new size or site credit if your purchase your item during a sale.

CUSTOMER SERVICE:

Customer service was really helpful in determining my size. I gave them my sizes and they recommended the large as well, which I think was overall a good recommendation.

DRESS QUALITY:

This dress is delicate, like, really delicate. I wore this dress out the day after it arrived and I was super disappointed to see a few pulls at the stitching and a run in the dress after wearing it for a few hours. Luckily, it’s not too noticeable, but I will be a lot more careful when I’m wearing this dress. It actually felt much more delicate than the Teale dress. Similar to my other dress, the silk is also a bit sheer, so nude undergarments are a must.

While I’m not overall blown away by the quality of the dress, the dress itself is so gorgeous and I’m excited to wear it this summer.

What do you think? Will you be adding a Realisation dress to your closet this summer?

Keep an eye out for my upcoming reviews of the Cher Top and 1996 dress!

P.S. Realisation Sales happen about 2-3x each year; once in March, once in late summer or fall, and once on Black Friday!
