Here we go again: NYFW 2019

I will never forget my first trip to New York for Fashion Week. It was short, overwhelming, cold, exhausting, and all-in-all unforgettable. I remember saying “yep, I’m coming back” as I boarded my flight back to Phoenix so I could be back in time for my afternoon accounting class.

This time, though, would be different. I wanted at least 5 days in the city and, if at all possible, some decent weather. During my first trip it was cold and wet nearly the whole time but, to be fair, it was the February fashion week. As someone who lives in Arizona, my cold weather wardrobe leaves a whole lot to be desired. I might have one decent cold weather jacket that could fit in among the crowds of impeccably dressed people. In September – one of the best months for New York weather – my style could actually shine.

What I’m packing:

Last time I went to NYFW, I had to pack everything into a carry-on. I did this on purpose to speed up the process of landing in Phoenix and driving back to Tucson in time to make it for class. This time, I’m checking the whole way (save for a few items I will be keeping secure in a carry-on).

Comfortable Walking Shoes

The most worn pieces in my bag are for sure going to be my ankle boots. This year, I packed one broken in pair of pointy-toed boots in a solid black and a pair of Mansur Gavriel red booties. Last year, I brought a pair of over-the-knee boots and this year is no different. However, I did upgrade my boots from a pair of Catherine Maladrino to a pair of Steve Maddens and my new boots are both much more comfortable and don’t have to be pulled up every few blocks. I’m also planning on bringing a low pair of heels and comfortable leather sneakers!

A Leather Jacket + My Denim Jacket

I’m finally getting to break out my leather jacket since it’s a little bit cooler in New York (I’m so ready for a break in these hot Arizona temperatures) and my wardrobe wouldn’t be complete without my denim jacket. The only difference is now I won’t be sweating through it.

Colorful Dresses + Rompers

One of my goals for Fashion Week this year was to wear more color. This year, I decided to bring a red romper, a neon pink dress, lots of fun printed items, and plenty of other stuff in colors other than black and white.

A Large Tote + Small Crossbody

For the long days, I love carrying my solid black Longchamp tote. It’s the perfect size for my wallet, snacks, and my DSLR camera. I also plan on bringing my Ivory Gucci Dionysus bag for shorter days where I just need my phone and wallet!

A Few Cute Workout Looks

Before this year, I would have never worked out while on vacation. But – I’ve planned a few collaborations with local fitness studios near the place I’m staying and I’m hitting up an APL x Shopbop class as well!

Comfy City Clothes

For the little down time I have, I am bringing a few pairs of high waisted stretchy jeans and simple cute tops for when I don’t want to dress up.
