How I Packed for New York Fashion Week in One Carryon

So beings the week of my New York Fashion Week hangover. It’s nice because part of me is still running on New York time, which means I’m early for everything since Tucson is 2 hours behind.

I’m so excited to share some of my favorite trends from the week soon, as well as my tips for navigating your very first fashion week, but for now I’m going to share my biggest feat of the week: how I packed more than ten outfits in just one carryon. Unfortunately, I forgot to photograph a few outfits, so I’m falling just short with only 9 outfits to show you. It’s not even all the possible combinations I could’ve come up with. I had a few more I wanted to shoot, but just ran out of time.

What I packed:

Tops:

Bottoms:

Dresses and Jumpsuits:

Shoes:

Outerwear:

Other:

The nice thing about this combination of items was that I could mix and match so many items. I could’ve switched up the jeans or outerwear to give any outfit a differnt look and feel. That was crucial in getting such a variety of outfits.

As far as actually packing the items? Roll, baby, roll. Rolling your items truly does save space in your suitcase. Put your intimated (read: socks, tights, and underwear) inside of your shoes to save just a little more space too. You can’t have a bunch of empty space, so use what you can.

Outfit 1:

On the first day I was in New York, I pulled out the first outfit I thought of packing. I layered my Gentle Fawn Cami over a black ribbed turtleneck and paired that with black coated jeans, pointed toe booties, and a white scarf. I also was carrying my Rebecca Minkoff Crossbody, but I planned my outfits so the purse would match almost everything.

Outfit 2:

I’ve worn this outfit before, and it’s as simple as a jumpsuit and a leather jacket with some booties. I’ve even worn this look to a few bars in Tucson. Here, we see another glimpse of the pointed toe booties as well.

Outfit 3:

This fur jacket was the hardest to pack, but the best thing I brought. I had to wear this jacket on the plane in order to get it to New York, but it was totally worth it. I paired it with the cami (which is hidden under the scarf), some jeggings, and my over-the-knee boots. The white scarf also made an appearance again.

Outfit 4:

For this outfit, all I changed was the jacket and shoes from the outfit right above. I brought two pairs of booties to New York (I wish I had only brought one pair) and wore the waterproof round-toe booties for this outfit. They’re far comfier than my other pair. The black blazer was a sale find from Anthropologie and happened to be just warm enough for the 55 degree weather.

Outfit 5:

Peep the booties and crop turtleneck once again. The turtleneck paired perfectly with this pleated skirt and the leather jacket gave this outfit just the perfect touch of edge.

Outfit 6:

On day 2, it warmed up significantly before it began to rain so I was able to break out this Tobi Sweater dress with a pair of tights and the waterproof booties. I was already prepared for some rain.

Outfit 7:

Ah, here it is: my favorite outfit of the week. I’m wearing my jeggings, blazer, and over-the-knee boots once again. I was going to wear my green cami again, but decided to wear this tee shirt instead. I originally brought this shirt to sleep in, but ended up breaking it out a few times for outfits.

Outfit 8:

Once again, we see some item repeats including the white scarf and the black coated jeans but, I broke out this Gentle Fawn blouse and peacoat for the first time.

Outfit 9:

Ok, so this is technically the same outfit as above (the sweater dress, tights, and booties) but no one would know since I layered a fur coat over the top.

Outfit 10:

Again, the same outfit above, but with a peacoat and scarf for a little extra flair.
