6 Simple Face Masks To Do At Home

Hi ladies! I’m excited to be here today and talk to you about simple face masks to do at home. My name is Desi and I’m the creator of the lifestyle blog Tea Cups & Tulips. If you are into affordable style inspiration, beauty tips and tricks, and wellness ideas, come over and say hi!

So let’s jump into today’s post. As I mentioned above, we will be talking about DIY beauty.

Let me first start by saying that I’m very passionate about skincare and beauty. With so many different types of self-proclaimed “miracle” products, I can confidently say I haven’t found THE magic product. The one that you use in the evening and when you wake up, it worked like magic. If you know one, please share it with me. I’d love to know about it.

However, I’ve found that if you take care of your skin on a daily basis, you can definitely see results. So apart from cleansers, toners, moisturizers, sunscreens, and the countless other products, I also like to use face masks. And lately, I’ve been all about making my own face masks. The whole process of mixing ingredients and applying them to my face is incredibly relaxing and therapeutic. It takes as little as 5 minutes, and all the ingredients can easily be found in your refrigerator or pantry.

To set the tone, I will make a cup of peppermint tea. Get my face masks ready. Since each of these face masks has to stay on my face for at least 20 minutes, I use the time to either watch a movie, do my laundry, or edit pictures. This is kind of like a ritual for me.

6 Simple Face Masks To Do At Home

Here is what you need:

1. Scrub

Mix 1 tbsp of olive oil or coconut oil with 1 tbsp of sugar. Apply on your face and scrub gently in circular motions. I do this for about 1 minute before washing it off with warm water.

You can use this homemade scrub twice a week. It helps removes dead skin cells, exfoliates and speeds up the skin renewal process.

2. Hydrating and brightening face mask

Combine 1-2 tbsp of honey with 1-2 tbsp of lemon juice. Apply the mixture to your face and neck and let it sit for 10-20 minutes. Wash it off with warm water.

So this mask can get a little messy, but it does such an excellent job with brightening the skin and reducing dark spots. Also honey is full of antioxidants, it hydrates and promotes skin’s elasticity. You can use this mask as often as every day.

Whenever you apply any brightening products, always use sunscreen before going outside.

3. Acne face mask

Mix 1 tsp turmeric, 1 tsp of honey and 2 tsp of yogurt. Apply to your skin and leave it on for 15-20 minutes. Then wash it off with water or cleansing oil.

You can make this mask without the yogurt for a more powerful effect. However, keep in mind that turmeric is really strong and will stain your face orange. That’s why I make this mask, only in the evenings. This way there is enough time to remove any yellowness residue from the turmeric. Apart from that turmeric is amazing for your skin, it helps reduce acne and scarring.

4. Shrink those pores

Apply an egg white from one egg to your face, wait 15 minutes or until egg whites dry out. Wash your face with warm water.

This is such an easy mask. Egg whites help to tighten the skin, even skin tones and shrink pores. If you have dry skin, you can use the remaining yolk as a face mask too. Egg yolk is made out of water and fats, which helps to lock moisture in your skin.

5. Exfoliating mask

Mix 1 tbsp yogurt, 1 tbsp oats, and 1 tbsp sugar. Apply a thick layer on your face. Let it sit for 20-30 minutes. Then wet your fingers and gently apply the mixture in circular motions. Wash it off with warm water.

Oats are a natural exfoliant. They help soothe the skin and reduce redness.

6. Glowing skin mask

Blend 1 tbsp of baking soda with 1 tbsp of coconut oil and apply on your whole face, including your lips. Scrub gently then leave it for 15 to 20 minutes and wash it off. Splash your face with cold water to close the pores. Ta-da!

So these are 6 simple face masks to do at home. You don’t have to do all of them in one day, but you can if you have the time. Otherwise, just pick and choose, see which ones work for you best and do them over and over.

DIY face masks are great when you’re trying to save money. The ingredients will last you forever and you have everything you already need in your kitchen.

If you try any of these simple face masks, let me know what you think. Which one is your favorite? And don’t forget to stop by Tea Cups & Tulips to say hello.
