Michelob ULTRA Fit Fest

If you’ve been keeping up with me on Instagram, you may have noticed that I started talking and posting about working out a lot more. I mean, it’s not difficult to work out more when I used to not work out at all. I will admit – I’m still not the biggest fan of working out. However, I love how my body feels when I’m in shape and working out definitely helps my mind with my body image issues.

When it comes to working out, I really need a group fitness class. I can work out on my own, but I work out harder and better when I’m in a group fitness class. It’s probably why I loved Orangetheory enough to buy a membership. So, when Michelob ULTRA reached out to me to attend their first Fit Fest in Scottsdale, I was pretty excited. It was group fitness classes all weekend including yoga, golf, HIIT training, and more! Not to mention, I stayed at the J.W. Marriott and got free beer all weekend!

Friday

I finished up my first week of work and headed straight over to the hotel to check in. Tanner had to drive in from Tucson, so he was going to meet me there. We ended up not doing any of the classes on Friday night, but we managed to make it in time for dinner and the kickoff party!

I didn’t get any photos of the party, but it was a pretty cool setup. They had outdoor furniture (with all the branded pillows), a large light up sign, and fun lights that guided you right to the party. The whole hotel was set up for the Fit Fest weekend, so thing like this swing were placed around the property.

Saturday

Tanner and I woke up early to hit a yoga class first thing in the morning. We had never done a Y7 yoga class and we absolutely loved it!

It was much harder than we anticipated, but overall a great way to ease into the weekend. Tanner and I were both recovering from brief colds, so the yoga was a good way to really sweat it all out.

After yoga, we went to a cooking demo at the restaurant next to the pool and followed that up with some sun-tanning time. We hung out at the pool for several hours, enjoying all the free beers in the Arizona heat.

After the pool, we decided to wind down in our hotel room with a short nap and some time on the patio. I tried on my new Under Armour gear provided to me for the weekend and Tanner helped me snap a few pics for the ‘gram.

Sunday

Being the ambitious people that we are, we decided to do an early morning workout on Sunday as well. We did the workout that was hosted by former Bachelorette contestant, Shawn Booth, and Carmen Morgan. The workout itself was pretty good (not too intense) but doing it in the sun made it a bit harder!

Afterwards, we enjoyed our breakfast at the hotel and showered up to prepare for the rest of the day. We already can’t wait to attend next year!

Tips for your first Fit Fest:

If you’re planning on going to the ULTRA Fit Fest next year, here are my tips for making the most of your weekend:

  • Book your classes as soon as the app is released! The classes filled up pretty fast!
  • If you want to attend a class that is full, go anyway. A lot of people don’t show up and you can take their spots.
  • Back-to-back workouts are difficult. Try spacing them out, even if it’s just by an hour.
  • Stay hydrated! In Arizona, it’s easy to get dehydrated (even when there isn’t free beer!), so make sure you’re sipping on that water during the day.
  • Get your swag early. They run out of sizes so get it as soon as you can!

Hope to see you there next year!
