Forget the Summer Body: It’s about Feeling Good

People prep for summer as if it’s a body competition. I mean, how many ads do we see every year to help us get “summer ready?” Even I’m guilty of it. I want to look my best for summer too.

But now, summer is here and I challenge you to forget the “summer body”. With the current body-positive movement that’s happening, we should be going from focusing on looking our best to feeling our best.

Instagram and social media can setup unrealistic body image expectations. Some days, I have to pull myself out of the Insta-gutter and remind myself that I do look great. And more importantly, I feel great.

I get it. It happens. Self-confidence and body confidence aren’t always running at a high, especially in the summer. But we have to stop the feeling of failure just because we don’t look just like the insta-famous bikini-wearers this season.

It’s time to think beyond summer and start building better habits now for year-round health. No more fad diets and no more stressing. Getting healthier is about finding what works for your body and your lifestyle; and there’s so many resources out there that can help.

I started going to OrangeTheory. When that no longer worked, I started going to F45. PlateJoy is a another great example. (See my full PlateJoy review here!)

PlateJoy is a company that can assist you in your health journey with ease. They’re not a meal delivery kit that delivers fresh food to cook. Instead, think of them as your own personal meal planning assistant. They help you find food that suits you – your schedule, your likes, your goals – and then helps create a new lifestyle that you can stick with.

It’s about flexibility, which normal diets and delivery kits don’t provide, and allows you to shop where you want and or meal prep with the recipes. From mushroom lasagna with basil almond cream to watermelon agua fresca, there are so many great and healthy recipes for you to try.

So, throw on the bathing suit, enjoy your summer and check out PlateJoy for new healthy habits that will last all year!

Hi - my name is Kirsten! I am currently based in Chicago after a long cross-country move from Arizona. What will you find here? I love sharing all things sustainability and slow fashion, any of my day-to-day shenanigans, the latest new hobbies I picked up, and whatever concert or music festival I can find. Welcome and thanks for popping in to my little corner of the world wide web!
