The Best Fall Trends to Reuse Your Summer Staples

This post is sponsored by Kohl’s. I was paid for this post and received the included clothes as compensation.

Can you believe summer has already just flown by? I can’t even believe that I’m getting ready to head to my first day of work in September, instead of my first day of class. Absolutely crazy.

Either way, it’s an important time of the year for everyone. Kids are going back to school. College students are getting ready to leave the nest once again. Recent graduates are starting work for the first time. That’s why I’m always here to share my favorite fashion trend, tips, and finds for any occassion. Today, I’ll be talking all about my favorite summer-to-fall transition trends. From gingham and florals to the basic shoes you need this fall, it’s all here.

I used to shop at Kohl’s all the time. I mean, this was the place to go. When I first got a job, I literally drove down the street to Kohl’s to spend some of my hard-earned cash on some new wardrobe essentials. Although I haven’t gone to the store in a while (but to be fair, I haven’t been doing any in-store retail shopping lately – I know I know, I’m killing the shopping mall industry), Kohl’s has remained one of my favorite stores to shop online; they always have great deals on some pretty awesome trends. They also always have a sale which, as you might know by now, is totally my thing. The sale I’m sharing today? You can get $10 off your $50 purchase in Back-to-School categories from August 3-19 with the code: BTS10. Check out the sale here!

For a warm fall:

Here in Arizona, it stays pretty warm into the fall. In fact, it might be the best season in Arizona. It’s pleasant during the day with temperatures in the mid to low 80s and cools down at night. So, if you live in a similar climate to myself, it can be hard to wear some of your favorite fall trends when it’s still so warm. But, we can rock transitional outfits like no other, which brings me to look number one.

Rompers are one of my all-time favorite trends. My color of choice? Always red. Red, in my opinion, is one of those colors that just looks good in every season. Winter time? Of course, it’s a holiday color. Spring? Yep, just add flowers. Summer? Of course, just take one look at my summer wardrobe. Fall? Obviously, it’s one of the primary colors of the season.

So, naturally, one of the easiest things to transition from your late summer to fall wardrobe is a cute red romper. Instead of opting for the usual summery flip-flops or sandals, I opted for a pair of on-trend black heeled sandals. The darker color and simple silhouette makes this pair the perfect shoes for fall. As the temperatures begin to drop at night, it’s also the perfect time of year to throw on a classic denim jacket and swap the sandals for a cute pair of black or brown heeled booties.

All-in-all this romper is perfect for those late summer and early fall looks in warmer climates. It would look cute at a music festival (I think ACL is coming up!), on a fun date to the pumpkin patch, and it’s perfect for a regular daytime look too! Although I recently graduated, this is the kind of look I would wear almost every day to my college classes in the fall.

If red isn’t quite your color, Kohl’s juniors section has so many other cute rompers in fall colors! Just check out their selection here!

As it cools down:

Gingham has really been the it-trend this summer. Although I already had a pair of gingham pants with a large bow and high waist, I couldn’t resist this pair from Kohl’s. Although I’m typically a size 6, I sized up to the size 9 after reading the reviews. I wanted to make sure they weren’t too tight so they would still be appropriate for the office.

For casual wear, a simple tee shirt paired with these pants is perfect. I wore this split-neck black tee (which I now may have to pick up in a few more colors – it’s so cute!), but a graphic tee would have looked cute as well. I re-wore the same black sandals from above because they truly are the perfect shoes for fall!

As I mentioned earlier, it stays pretty warm here in Arizona. However, if you want to make this look perfect for cooler temps, this outfit would look adorable with a denim jacket (I know, I did say it was a closet staple) or moto jacket thrown over the top! You can also swap the tee for a turtleneck or chunky sweater and you’ll be all set!

I was shocked at how much I loved all the pieces in Kohl’s juniors collection – it was hard to pick out just a few pieces! If you live in  a place where it gets a bit colder, make sure to check out their sweater collection – those will be essential this fall! If you’re in a place that’s a bit warmer (like here in Arizona) we can still rock fall trends, just with shorter sleeves!

That romper is adorable! It stays pretty warm in Denver too until late September, so I always find myself pulling out t-shirts and shorts again, lol!
