Cozy Girl Fall: Marco Polo Sweater

Purl Girl Summer has officially come to a close. Welcome to Cozy Girl Fall.

While I have a few summer handknits I’d still like to share with you all, I’ve made my first chunky sweater of the season.

I had a bunch of chunky yarn on hand that I technically was meaning to save for another project, but when Kara from @karas.knit.eng shared her test knit for the Marco Polo Sweater, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to use it. The collar and bottom ribbing uses Wool and the Gang’s Crazy Sexy Wool in Eucalyptus (Get 15% off using my link!) and the body and sleeves are knit in Buttercream Cozy, which was a thick wool/acrylic blend that has recently been discountinued.

I made a size medium, which was the perfect boxy cropped fit for me, but I do wish I had made the collar just a few rows longer.

I’m wearing this pullover with denim shorts, since it’s still warm where I live, but I love the idea of throwing this on for cozy fireside nights ot pairing with dark wash jeans and a pair of sleek black ankle boots.

Because of the size of this yarn, this project knits up super quick. I did some big breaks in between knitting this, but overall would say that I spent just a few days overall on the project. The body is knit seamlessly, which I love, and then connected at the shoulders. Stitches are picked up around the arms for the sleeves and then collar is added last.

I would rate this as a beginner knit, definitely something anyone could handle. Don’t let the collar scare you off!
