Bra Solutions for the Gifted Busts

Growing up with a ‘gifted’ chest has always been more of a pain that a reward for me. I know – ‘be grateful for what you have’ – but what I have comes hand in hand with tops that simply won’t work and back pain from wearing the wrong bras.

Not to just jump right into it, but if you’re a girl, you get it. Here are some of my favorite bra and bra solutions:

My Favorite Plunge Bra

While this one technically isn’t ‘invisible’ in the photo, this just proves the bra is pretty enough to get shown off during fashion week. I own the Natori Feathers bra in two colors and, while I recommend you order one cup size up from your usual size, this bra is great under my lower cut clothing items.

Compressive Bodysuits

The best bodysuit I have found by far, which can be worn both alone or under clothing, is the black bodysuit sold by Pinsy. The scoop neck bodysuit is my favorite, followed closely by the high neck bodysuit, which is a lot more appropriate for work. If you’re stuck on sizing, size up.

This bodysuit is supportive enough to be worn without a bra and is the perfect companion to high waist shorts, skirts, and jeans for a simple, yet incredibly flattering outfit.

The Best T-Shirt Bra

When it comes to t-shirt bras, Wacoal is my go-to brand. I have a few bras from them and their sister brand B.tempt’d. These bras are by far the most comfortable and supportive for my bigger chested gals, even if they’re not the cutest bras out there all the time.

The Strapless Bra Savior

Wacoal happens to make my go-to strapless bra as well. I love Wacoal since the bigger bust sizes usually come with extra hooks in the back for more support. This is one of the few strapless bras I haven’t found myself adjusting all night (although there is usually a little bit, it is a strapless bra on an G-sized chest after all).

Boob Tape for the tricky situations

Ok, this boob tape stuff is the shit. Granted, it’s a bit weird to put on and take off, but if you’ve got a tricky top or dress to pull off, this tape might be your savior. I always keep some on hand for events with backless tops, dresses, or even plunge dresses where a plunge bra just won’t cut it.

The (actually supportive) Bralettes

When it comes to bralettes, I’ve got a few favorites that I swear by. The first is the True Body Lift bra from True & Co. They sell a few different types but they specifically sell a few that are meant for bigger busts. These are usually denoted with a special D-DD+ symbol and they are made with larger busts and smaller underbusts. So, you don’t run into the problem of having too big of a band with not enough support.

The other brand I love is Lively. They make a few styles of their ‘busty bralette’ which is also designed with smaller bands and larger cups. They also designed these with a thicker band and straps for more support. I usually wear a size 1 or 2 since I’m on the edge of their size chart. I recommend sizing up if you’re between!

The other brand I love is Negative Underwear. I wear a size 3 and while these have slightly less support, I love the way they look and feel!
